Sending Prayers To Jim Carrey And His Family In This Difficult Time

Spread the love

The renowned comedian and actor Jim Carrey’s sister, Rita Carrey, died at the age of 68 just over a year after they were married.

On her Facebook page, Rita’s husband Alex shared the sad news that his wife had died on November 14 “surrounded by her family and friends.”

“It is with heavy heart and my deepest sadness that, surrounded by her family and friends, Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14, 2024,” he wrote, adding that the couple had spent 16 years together prior to tying the knot in an outdoor wedding last July.

“We traveled the world and met many people who we consider friends. Rita was my bestest friend, my lover, and my beautiful wife,” Alex continued. “Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone, even total strangers. As everyone knows, Christmas was Rita’s favorite holiday; actually, it was every day for her, and she started a fundraiser to help a local charity.”

Jim Carrey’s sister

Jim Carrey, star of The Mask, had three older siblings, including Rita. The actor has a sister named Patricia and a brother named John. Canada is where all four of them were born and brought up.

Rita talked about being the sister of one of the most well-known actors in the world in a 2015 interview with SiriusXM 167.

“It’s not hard,” she said. “People ask me every day… I said now my name—’cause they always go ‘Jim Carrey’s sister’—so’ my name now is JCS, for Jesus Christ Superstar, because I never get: Oh, you’re Rita?”

But I’ve been asked for the last twenty-five years about Jim every day of my life. Every day, somebody will inevitably say, “You’re Jim Carrey’s sister,” or, “You look like someone I know,” or stuff like that. “ So it doesn’t bother me.”

Jim has not yet released a statement regarding the death of his sister as of this writing.
